Based on the 13th-Century translation into Latin from a Greek manuscript by Robert Grosseteste, Englished anonymously by A. Gilby. Prefac e to the Christian Reader signed Richard Day. Second edition, a very close reprint of the 1638 first edition. Foolscap octavo; mostly Black Letter; A-K8. (D4 mis-signed B4.) Illustrated with woodcuts of Jacob and the Twelve Patriarchs, plus the decorative cut on title-page; 14 total. Full mottled dark calf; plain, some wear and repair. Front free endpaper a later replacement. Some pentrials to pastedowns. Occasional minor stains. Overall, very good Provenance: ex-libris Liber Bibliothecae Graham Pollard.
